If you're typing into the box, save your statement regularly as the system will time out after two hours of inactivity. There is a 6,000 character limit for a completed personal statement. But we allow you to enter a maximum of 8,000 at the draft stage - so you can then edit it. You cannot use any formatting in your personal statement, this will automatically be removed. You won't be able to mark your statement as complete until there are 6,000 characters or less. You can preview your statement when it's finished. Please note that the character counts might be different if you are copying and pasting from another tool, different programmes use different character values for some punctuation and non-UK characters. You will not be able to change your personal statement once you have submitted your application.
