入学与成绩要求

- To gain a place at Birmingham you will need to meet our general entry requirements, as well as those specific to your course. Your application will be reviewed by the course’s Admissions Tutor, who will decide whether your application should receive an offer. Degree or an equivalent level 6 qualification and a mental health professional qualification or equivalent skills. or an equivalent level 6 qualification and a mental health professional qualification or equivalent skills. The PGDipCBT is designed to meet the criteria for accreditation with the BABCP | British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. Thus, to be eligible to enter training, you must have relevant academic and professional experience as detailed below. You must have a degree or an equivalent level 6 qualification. You must also demonstrate that you have mental health professional qualification or be able to demonstrate that you have the knowledge, skills, and attitudes equivalent to a mental health professional. Note that you cannot transfer credits from a previous course that included a module on CBT. There are two routes to entry: You must be qualified in one of a list of BABCP Core Professions Or, you must satisfy the criteria of the Knowledge Skills and Attitudes (KSA) framework, as described by the BABCP. If you are submitting a KSA portfolio, it does not need to be submitted to BABCP prior to training. It needs to be submitted to the University as part of the selection process. You need to come to any interview that you are offered prepared to talk about how you meet the KSA criteria. Additionally, if, following interview, we intend to offer you a place, we will ask for you to submit your KSA portfolio to us electronically as part of meeting the conditions of your offer. We will only shortlist applicants who have already applied, and been shortlisted, for a Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Therapist post in a West Midlands region NHS Talking Therapies or NHS Talking Therapies-commissioned service. Therefore you must apply for one of these posts at the same time as you apply to the University. We operate our selection procedures jointly with NHS and NHS-commissioned placement providers in line with NHS Values Based Recruitment and will not interview any applicant who has not already been shortlisted for an NHS post. Note that there needs to be two years between graduation from PWP (or any other HEE funded course) and the start date of the Diploma in CBT. You must be employed in a clinical placement in which it is possible to undertake two or three days per week of supervised CBT practice where you can make audio/video recordings of your therapy sessions, which will be submitted as part of assignments. To qualify for NHS England funding, this placement must be within an NHS Talking Therapies or NHS Talking Therapies-commissioned service. Because this course is for NHS (or NHS-commissioned) employees only, you can be nominated by services that you are already working in. If this does not apply to you, you will need to apply for an NHS post at the same time as making an application to the University. Please note that, whilst we may be able to provide some guidance, it is not the role of the University to source relevant employment positions for applicants as trainee CBT therapists in NHS Talking Therapies or NHS Talking Therapies-commissioned services within the West Midlands area. These posts are often advertised on the NHS jobs website from spring onwards. You could write to various local placement providers to request doing a placement with them and they will be able to provide you with more precise information about their vacancies and dates for job adverts. You should apply to the placement (for the post) and the University (for the course) separately. The only exception to this is for placements whee the provider likes to conduct their recruitment jointly with the University. In either case, speak to the placement providers and they will tell you their application requirements, AND apply to the University anyway. We operate our selection procedures jointly with placement providers in line with NHS Values Based Recruitment.

- Personal statement, approximately 5,000 characters, explaining why you are interested in studying on your chosen programme. This can be uploaded to the personal statement section in PDF or Microsoft Word format. Alternatively, you can type this within the application portal. There are various differences in personal statements for a first degree, but it is also a good idea to think of the statement like a job application. The word limit is higher, so you are expected to provide more detail and you will need to provide evidence of critical thinking and research skills, since these are more significant components in Masters courses. When reading your statement, our Admissions want to see your interest and commitment to the subject. Follow our guide below to ensure you address the above in your statement. Do your research Research the course and its links to careers, and the example modules within the course Think of some reasons why you want to do this particular course Read through the entry requirements and course description very carefully: identify the keywords and phrases and think about how you can provide evidence of these skills Writing (‘the four Ps') Passion for your subject – Demonstrate your academic interests, eg, further reading, favourite modules, related events like exhibitions, conferences and workshops. Person – Why you? Give evidence of your previous experiences, motivations, career goals. Preparation – Apply your skills to the skills listed in the entry requirements and course description. Always give evidence to prove you have these skills. These skills could be from academic work, employment, research placements, internships, societies or other roles. Place – Why here? Tailor the personal statement to the particular course: you can apply to more than one Masters course but each personal statement should be slightly different so that it is relevant to the individual course. Demonstrate that you have researched the course and the University. What do you like about Birmingham: staff interests, modules, resources, the postgraduate community? If you are returning to study after employment Think about how you can relate your current and previous employment to the skills required for studying this programme. Admissions tutors are looking for your commitment to the course, so if you can display your time management and project management in a working environment, this will show your transferable skills (much like a job application).
